Barron Method involves putting the rubber band around the haemorrhoid tissue. It is done with use of special instrument called ligator , which sucks mucosa of the haemorrhoid in and slips the rubber on its stem. Rubber band stops the blood supply to the haemorrhoidal mass, causing necrosis. Additional cryotherapy minimalises feeling of pain to minimum.
Whole procedure lasts about 20 minutes.
A patient should inform the doctor about eventual circulatory system diseases, diabetes, allergy for medications, or drugs taken. During the procedure patient should raise Any sudden symptoms (stomach ache, chest pain, breathlessness or nausea).
· Bleeding – happens in 2-5% of cases. It needs observation and sometimes surgical intervention.
· Infections – manifesting in growing pain 7-10 days after the procedure, with fever and urinary retention. It needs antibiotic therapy.
· Rare complications: anal stenosis, faecal incontinence as a result of anal sphincter damage.
AFTER THE PROCEDURE
Majority of patients after rubber band ligation feel sensation of fullness in the rectum till the haemorrhoid drops off. It doesn’t require any treatment, accept constipations and diarrhoeas prevention.
The haemorrhoids drops off after 5-7 days. It can cause a minor bleeding. Wounds cure after 6 weeks, but any aliments lasts in majority of cases at most, 2-3 days.
